About
What GameServerPlan is for
Most people looking for a game server are not trying to become system administrators. They want to play with friends and would rather not overpay or underbuy on the way there. This site exists to make that decision legible.
What it does
For each game we cover, there are four things you can do. Read what the game itself publishes about running a server. Plan what your own group needs, from your answers rather than from a formula. Weigh running it yourself against renting it. And see how hosts package that game, so the options are comparable on their own terms.
Six games are covered: pick one to start, or go straight to comparing hosting.
How we approach it
- Official figures stay official
- What a game publishes and what we conclude from it are kept apart, on the page and in the files behind it. Every figure says which it is.
- Gaps are named, not filled
- Several of these games publish no server RAM or CPU figure at all. Where that is true we say so, rather than borrowing a number from a host or a blog.
- Hosts are peers, not a ranking
- Compare pages show how each host packages a game and the different ways each may fit a plan. No scores, no best-to-worst order, no winner.
Independence
GameServerPlan is an independent planning and comparison site. It is not operated by, or on behalf of, any game developer or hosting company. Game and hosting company names belong to their respective owners.
Our terms and privacy pages set out how we handle both of those in practice.
