Valheim
Valheim server planner
Two questions, and a reading of what Iron Gate documents about each. Worth saying up front: they publish no memory or processor figure for a dedicated server, so this planner gives you context and names that gap rather than papering over it with a number.
Between 1 and 10, which is the range Iron Gate publishes as supported at 1.0. It is context only — no published statement turns a player count into memory or a processor, so there is nothing here to sort you into.
Answer both to see the reading.
How this works, and what it will not do
- There are no baseline, extra headroom or demanding tiers here. The reason is what the Valheim evidence contains: Iron Gate documents the 1 to 10 player range and discusses large-build performance, and publishes no hardware figure for a dedicated server at all. With no published figure, there is nothing for a tier to be a tier of — a baseline and a demanding band would be two numbers we invented and attributed to nobody.
- Player count is context. It confirms your group sits inside the published supported range, and it sets no figure, because no official statement connects a number of players to memory or a processor.
- The large-build question reports a documented consideration and stops there. Iron Gate names it, including after 1.0's optimisations, and attaches no measurement to it. A direction without a magnitude stays a direction.
- We did not ask about world age, how much of the world you have explored, or mods. The current official evidence does not turn any of the three into dedicated-server sizing, and mods have no official support at all, so nothing official describes their cost. Crossplay is missing for a different reason: it decides whether port forwarding applies, which is a networking question rather than a hardware one.
- Two rows of the reading exist to report an absence. They are marked as absences, and the figures that circulate to fill them — provider sizing tables, community consensus numbers, Valheim's own client system requirements relabelled — are not used here.
Where to take this next
- Server Requirements
The full evidence behind this reading: the 1.0 facts, the setup and network documentation, the Linux library versions, and an explicit list of what Iron Gate does not publish.
- Self-host or rent
The operational side: your machine, your availability, which documented backend you expect to use, and the work of running a server yourself.
